CHINA 25: XIAN-LACQUER FACTORY
June 5 Continued
Our next stop was a Lacquer Factory. There we were told that most pieces required 30+ coats of lacquer, a thin, transparent liquid. Between coats one has to wait for hours for lacquer to dry.
There were many works on display.
Also, we saw some artists at work. One was cutting various figures for inlay work. Another was doing final touch-ups on a panel.
By now we were ready for lunch. We were taken to a multi-story restaurant. Many floors were occupied by wedding functions.
After checking different places, we were seated on the 20th floor for a buffet lunch.
It offered a nice view of the surrounding area.
On our way there, we were able to peek into one wedding hall.
